8 weeks since the day he fledged, Jack is still King of the Castle ;)
Another absolutely fantastic show tonight, from very high to very low, hovering and stooping… He’s developed beautifully in those eight weeks :)
It was nice to introduce the family to a few more passers by and share the experience.

Tom shows how it's done. Prior to this he'd done a bit of flying with Jack doing a lot of mock attacks, the best interaction I've seen between the two since Jack fledged. ... See MoreSee Less

Jack arrived at the hospital screeching as I was making my way to the watch point and settled on the corner over the ledge. I quickly settled and set up to record Jack wailing. Over his wailing you can hear faintly in the distance Peregrine alarm calls and I was trying to find the source/cause (it sounded like it was coming from high up, probably near the Thames) when I noticed Jack's screeching changing and switched my attention to him. He dropped like a stone nearly all the way to the ground, disappearing very briefly behind buildings. The screaming changed and then I saw him fly right above the hospital sign and when he reappeared, still quite low down, he had prey in his talons! He'd made a kill! Very risky strategy. It took him some time to gain enough height to reach the top of the hospital again (while I was desperately trying to film him but my camera wouldn't focus :( ) but he did. He was panting a lot, this was some effort. But it didn't take him very long to catch his breath and he started eating almost straight away. And he ate for nearly the next two hours, with a few breaks here and there. He must have been very hungry... ... See MoreSee Less

Flame and Jack this evening.
Nothing much happened after Flame chased the Crow away, Jack mostly ate and screamed for no apparent reason. He took the prey remains and flew to cache them at the other end of the hospital. Very confident. But screaming. ;)

A Crow had the temerity to want to perch on the highest point of the hospital... Flame had warned it... Blink and you'll miss it, so I've slowed it down 4 times as well. After that Flame escorted the Crow all the way to the other end of the cemetery. :) ... See MoreSee Less

A few shots of Jack this evening. He mostly stayed put or ate but he also did a little bit of lovely flying, playing in the wind, which was nice to see after his no show yesterday. ... See MoreSee Less

A few shots from the cctv from the last four days. It includes one of Flame feeding Jack! Yes, 7 weeks today since he fledged :)
Tonight is the first night in 7 weeks that he stood us up at PeregrineWatch! We were not around for very long to be fair, we thankfully left before a big shower. And Flame was hiding behind a pillar ;)
